Registration Information

Q: How do I register for Congress?

Q: How do I register for courses?

  • General course require no pre-registration, however, seating is on a first-come-first-serve basis. There are pre-registration required for some activities. Learn more by reviewing our schedule at a glance.

Q: What are the location and hours for on-site registration?

  • Thursday, 10/10, 6:30 am- 4:00 pm at the Oregon Convention Center
  • Friday, 10/11, 6:30 am- 4:00 pm at the Oregon Convention Center
  • Saturday, 10/12, 7:00 am- 4:00 pm at the Oregon Convention Center

Q: What is the cancellation policy?

  • Attendee Policy: Refunds of registration fees less $100 per person administration cost will be granted if a written request is sent into the GWCO Office indicating the registrants name and reasoning for the cancellation. Written requests for cancellations must be received by 8/31/19. No refunds will be given thereafter except in the event of extenuating circumstances such as hospitalization or death. Cancellations of registration must be in writing.
  • Exhibitor, Sponsorship, and Advertising Policy: All purchases are non-refundable.

Q: What is an AOP?

  • GWCO defines staff, paraptopmetrics and optitians under one heading: Allied Ophthalmic Professionals (AOP).

Q: What is the Physician Payment Sunshine Act?

  • The Physician Sunshine Act requires eye product manufacturers to report attendance registration information for CE, meals, and items of value which are supported by grant funding from such companies. GWCO will work with such companies to provide information required by the Sunshine Act.

Continuing Education Information

Q: Are all CE sessions included in the conference fee?

  • Yes, all standard CE sessions are included.

How do I get handouts for my courses?

  • The handouts will be available online or in the GWCO mobile app. Print the handouts you need and bring them with you or view them on your mobile device. Handouts will be made available approximately one month before Congress. Please review the Course Information.

Q: Is CE Accredited?

  • GWCO makes every effort to secure accreditation for all continuing education through Council on Optometric Practitioner Education (COPE), American Board of Opticianry (ABO), National Contact Lens Examiners (NCLE), and American Optometric Association Paraoptometric Section (CPC). GWCO does not guarantee that a licensing board or certifying organization will accredit any course presented at GWCO Congress 2018.

Q: How will GWCO know which courses I attend?

  • Verification of attendance for course certificates will be done through badge scanning. Badges are required for entrance to all education and events. Replacement badges are available at the registration desk for a fee.

  • Portland Internation Airport (PDX) is the closest to the event.

Q: How do I get around in Portland?

  • The Portland Streetcar provides service to Downtown, the Pearl District, Nob Hill, and Portland State University. MAX provides services throughout the Portland Metropolitan Area. Major bus routes are also located all around our Lloyd District location.
